Hi everyone since coming out of hibernation my three 3 have all been eating loads of cuttlefish. I am sprinkling limestone flour on their food 5 days out of 7 with nutrabol the other 2 days. My question is, is it better to offer them limestone flour in a dish or is cuttlefish better? I know that they must need extra at this time and thats why they are eating more instinctively just wondered what your thoughts are??
thanks in advance.
Stella can eat a whole cuttlefish bone when she is gravid

she seems to know when she wants it, that's why i always leave one down for mine, i do the same as you and sprinkle limestone flour on food but a lot also leave it in a pot too in case they fancy, i've tried it but mine are never interested for some reason, try it and see how it goes

oh by the way, my inside tables have always got a cuttlefish bone but they never touch it, i've only ever seen mine eat it outside, not sure why but yours might go for it tho? try both limestone flour and cuttlefish and see how it goes, if they eat the limestone flour then ther'll be no need to sprinkle it on their food just keep up with the nutrobal
Ta Sue, the cuttle fish has been outside all winter, i noticed last year they wouldn't eat it new but would once it had been in the outside enclosure for a while; so i weathered this one for them lol. Will find a shallow dish and put some limestone flour down in the morning.
take care x

I offer nutrobal daily and give cuttlefish/limestone flour seperately so they can help themselves at will. Done this for 25 years now. 2 days nutrobal is fine for adults but not for growing torts.
Mine use their cuttlefish bones to rest their heads on. I move them away from their basking lamp when i go back to check on them they have moved them back. Molly my horsfield keeps weeing in her limestone flour. I change it and back she goes and wee's in it again. Dirty little bugger.
