Hi there,
It's much prefered to put nutrobal on the food and instead leave a dish of calcium carbonate in the enclosure, along with cuttlefish bone for your tortoises to bite/chew on.
Putting calcium carbonate on the food alongside nutrobal, makes the nutrobal ineffective. There is a scientifical reason for this but I can't find the link at the minute. i'll let you know if I find it!

what you do is much the same as i do paulette. I sprinkle limestone flour (out of a pepper pot, no mess!) on weeds daily except the 2 days a week that they have nutrobal, i don't give nutrobal so often now that they're outside though, they also have access to cuttlefish bone

For anyone that might not know, remember that cuttlefish is a pretty poor source of calcium, because of the calcium phosphorous ratio.
My nutrobal regime is to sprinkle it on every meal (but not in summer when they are outside) and then offer limestone flour in a seperate dish at all times. Cuttlefish is good for keeping beaks trimmed but must not be relied on as the only source of calcium
