A delivery of seeds from torts-n-allsorts has arrived and Ive been out in the greenhouse planting so there is now some dandelion, milk thistle and clover being cultivated as well as the special tort mixed seed they do. A strange experience having been an allotment gardener for several yrs and spent many an hour battling weeds I am now growing them in their own special pots in the holy place which is my greenhouse!

Ive also been back on line and ordered a whole load more seeds - grass mix, fescue, plantain, luxury tortoise mix, orchard grass seeds and timothy grass seeds.

Im loving combining my hobby of gardenign and growing with feeding the newest love of my life!
i used to have a perfect lawn, now its a battle of weeds and hardly ever cut !! hubby is banned from weed/feeding it!

I would be careful growing too much of the Med mix for them Clare as they need predominantly grasses. Too many broad leaved weeds are not good for leos and will cause the squits Wink
Thanks for the comments Sue - Ive got the grass mixes too (one thats advertised for leopards and sulcata) and some single plant grass seeds. And the little dival has now found a new liking for readigrass so I think Im ok? My latest seed order is more fitting for the boys needs isnt it?

As always, all help and comments gratefully received!

oh dear me! I havent got any other torts - some confusion has occured! Am I wrong in thinking that my leopard can have the tort mix with the broad leaves as part of the 20% veg stuff to mix with his 80% grass food?

Maybe my innapropriate use of apostrophies caused the confusion? But as I am of the spell check generation I will reword it - I think / hope that the latest order of seeds will fit my torts dietry needs better than what Ive already got / fed him?
Don't worry, it's me I am old and good at confusing peopleTongue
The normal mix will do for 20% but I would not give too much as home grown weeds are much softer and higher in water than those that have roughed it in the wild.

We sowed our mix of Leopard and Leopard housing sarahs weed seeds, also planted the forest petunia, and 2 lavender, some ornamental grasses, and some hosts. They hide beneath the lavender, ornamental grasses and clumps of Hosta, but not eat them, but nibble at the rest of their travels. I found our boys is a thing in the corners and use them to climb so we planted in the corners and fushia when flowers bloom and hang them to hide that too, but munching flowers to hide the sun, not that we had a lot!
