I am desperate to get a baby hermann in june. Does anyone know a good breeder? I do know of shops selling baby hermans but have read up and many people say it is not a good idea. I am in the Cambridge/Stevenage/Bedfordshire area

Hi and welcome to tortoise world. We have a couple of good breeders on here. Wilsonathome and Wizzasmum both breed herman's. Pet shop torts are not as friendly and come mostly with worms etc. I think it pays to wait for a captive bred 1.

You will be looking at last years babies mainly and not many people have them left over. The breeding season is not in full swing yet so you would be looking at August time.
Buying from shops encourages wild caught sales and as others have said, will come with all manner of problems as a rule. The latest nightmare with imports is herpes virus which is nothing like the human form and will kill in most cases.
