TongueI am sooooooo excited!!! I had posted a few days ago about my picky Russian tortoise, Trevor, who only ate romaine lettuce and squash no matter what I tried (and I had tried a bunch of different things). I was told to only offer him the proper diet and bathe him daily if he goes on a hunger strike (refuses to eat at all) and he would eventually start eating the right foods. He went 4 days refusing to eat the plants I provided and sulking in his hiding area. He did try about four bites of a hosta leaf then gave me a dirty look. But today he finally ate!!! He had 3 dandelion leaves, one dandelion flower and attached stem, and 3 coreopsis flowers! I am so thrilled! I had tried once before to do this and he went a week without eating and I gave in. This is fantastic. I'm going to try some hibiscus (are leaves okay too or just flowers?) and prickly pear cactus tomorrow! Yay!!!!!!!

Well done, told you he would give in eventually. HIbiscus are fine, leaves and flowers, as are opuntia cactus, but I take the spikes off first for mine. Don't give him all he will eat though as his new growth is not very good and looks as though he's not been supplemented.
Good luck

The lady that had him before me gave me a bottle of the supplement she had been giving him and I have continued to use it. I don't know if you have it in the UK, but it is called ReptoCal and is a Calcium and Vitamin D3 supplement that has a small amount of Phosphorus in it also and some other vitamins (A, E, Thiamin, Riboflavin, etc.) Should I be using something else, or does that sound like the right supplement?
