Hi Sue, Thanks! I will get pics of his underneath and tail tomorrow, he does have a very long tail and an unhealthy liking of bricks which made us think he was male.
I will post tomorrow when I have them.
Thanks again
Sarah

Oh definately male then

Just be careful when you get him out of the bath. Think twice before mailing to say you tortoise has had a prolapse or is losing his innards, it's not a sight for the squeamish

:(Oh I will try not to look
Thanks for the warning

Heres his underneaths, do we know which sort he is?
What are the difference between horsefields and hermanns in apperance, they both look so alike to me

Wow thats all i can say lol. He is 100% male thats for sure lol. He is a male herman tortoise not sure on subspecies. Sue will tell you for sure.
Hahaha Its really long his tail isn't it? It pokes him in the leg when he walks! Bless him he only has a concrete tortoise to keep him company too

LOL, yes he is a male hermanni. Not sure of subspecies as your fingers are covering the all important tiny scute between the plastron (bottom shell) and the top. Most likely boettgeri but could be hercegovinensis - not hermanni hermanni. Definitely Testudo hermanni though.

Oh meant to say there is a huge difference between hermanni and horsfieldi, you are probably thinking of hermanni and spur-thighed being similar.
