i am thinking of getting second herman tortoise i have a female but i want to know how hard would it be to guess is a year old one a female out of six tortoises thanks
Hi tortoise sex depends on the temperatures the eggs were incubated at, have you asked the breeder what sex they incubated for, however this is still not a guarantee you get what you want.

At the age of 1 year is would be impossible to say with any certainty what the sex was sorry.
Ok my Tortoises are just over two years old now will i be able to tell what sex they are now ? and also how do you tell ?
They are still to young to sex correctly. If i had to guess at the moment i would say one of each.

That is what we thought and obviously that is our worst fear as they get on so well together and it would be sad to have to separate them

You maybe ok yet. If your new tort ends up being female then thats better. When they are growing torts change a lot. You won't no for sure until they are older.
