Today a teeny baby hatched from an even teenier egg. It was presumably laid by my first ever hatchling 2 months ago. She is ten years old now and a first time Mum, I'm really proud of her.
Here is the baby with a normal sized hatchling and Bobble who is a year old now.

Thats fantastic Sue, she really is tiny isn't she. What size is her mum? It's fascinating to see all the different sizes of tortoises within the same species, I suppose just like us, but for some reason you expect them all to be alike.
Well, those really are tiny and they look cute as well. I have to agree, there really seems to be a variety of sizes they range with even coming from the same species.
I just think that they must have a hard time carrying a heavier load even with such a tender age.
I am hoping to get mine like this in a couple of months time as said by my friend turned vet.
OMG how cute is she

are you naming this one one Sue

Her Mum is around 1200 gms so I would have expected bigger, but they ARE first eggs so I'm happy with that. She laid 2 but the other one is even smaller and does not look fertile, so 1 baby for her first attempt. I told her how proud I was but she looked as if to say 'It's no big deal!'

The bigger one of the three is Bobble and certainly one on her own. I am not sure if she is a throw back to some hybrid, she was one of last years babies and was exactly the same as a hypomelanistic baby on hatching. If so, she will always be that creamy colour, although some of her new growth is darker, so will have to wait to see if that fades or stays darker, she's certainly not got the normal markings of any of the hermanni sub species. I expect the little one to darken as she grows, to match the other one

LOL, no def not naming this one either Rowena. She should not have any of the problems that the little twin had to start with, so will look no different than the others, other than size

That was her first egg though, so just smaller in the way the egg was smaller. Are yours hermanns?

I have just told my daughter that this one will only be able to go to a very special home

Millie is a beautiful tort though, so am expecting this one to be very similar.
