Hello everyone,
I have never owned a tortoise but would love to do so. I do however have 4 cats and several chickens all of which use the garden. How do tortoises get on with other pets?
thanks
Gill

Hi Gill
Well done on doing some homework first. Cats are usually not a problem, other than trying to hog warm spots. Chickens could pose a problem if they are closely confined due to cross contamination, with parasites etc. As chickens tend to scratch up areas, they may be a danger to the tortoises eyes if they were to scratch in the area the tortoises lived. If you have room, I would be inclined to give them seperate areas to be honest.
Hope this helps
Hi Gill, Welome to tortoise world
I have a cat and it is bullied by the tortoises (who are all only small ones!) The tortoises are very good at withdrawing their legs and head when afraid nd are also very good at scratching cats nose lol! My cat just sits and watches from a distance now , he really doesnt understand the torts lol!
good luck!
Great! thank you for your replies. It is still a pipe dream really as i have been through many pets over the years and think hubby has had enough. Still i can try to wear him down
