Wheres the cheapest place to get slate for the tortoises? I have looked around and its fairly expensive.

Have you tried builders merchants or asking if any broken pieces on building site, you could also try freecycle?

Do you mean sheets of slate? I have seen place-mats made out of slate that would be ideal for feeding from.
An old roof tile works just as well.

hi there try builders merchants to see if they have some chipped or broken pieces of natural slate just ask the yardsman they usually hide a couple of pibroken pieces, it's ok i should know as i work for a builders merchant but any roofing merchant will keep slate as its used in roofing aswell
