I know it is a while away but I am just wondering if Herculees, Bert and Ernie can hibernate in the same fridge or should I get seperate ones?
i use the box-in-the-shed method myself but i don't see why not if there's enough room for 3 boxes
what i do is fill a polystyrene box with shredded newspaper thn put this into a bigger cardboard box which is also fully lined with shredded newspaper, i use a divider in the polybox so 2 torts can go in there
hope that makes sense Rolleyes
i will post some pics of my hibernation boxes
So long as different species are in different boxes there shouldn't be a problem. Just be sure that you use normal 'quarintine' methods that you do between handling them when they are awake. Their immune system is particularly low when they are entering and coming out of hibernation so be 'extra-careful'.
that makes sense!! I use like a sandwich box in their with shredded newspaper in!! All three boxes will be able to fit so can save me money lol!!! would love to see some pics though! Big Grin

There is my hibernation fridge. The babies are in the smaller sandwhich tubs (Well, I say babies, they are about 3), Tommy and Gus are sharing the next shoe box, and Yanni is in the bottom box wrapped in a towel.
This is a good thread to get us all prepared. What fridge do you use Josh it looks smaller than a "normal" one? I will be using this method o hibernate this year and want to get one before hand to check temps etc.

Thanks
I use a stella fridge. It doesn't have the glass door like other stella fridges but it works really well each year. Contemplating buying a new one with more room for this year, I was going to last year but just managed to get all of mine in!
Look at:
http://www.clearance-comet.co.uk

it is all comet ex-display stuff and you can buy it in auction bidding format. You can get some really good deals.
Any idea where I can get polystrene boxes from the one that tropical fish our delivered to shops in? Hope to use these for hibernation.
i got mine from pets at home in bridgend, i used to get them from zoar's arc but last year they wanted me to pay for them!
i've washed and stored them in the attic as i had a bit of a runaround trying to get them
