Saw this tortoise today at the welsh mountain zoo. On first glance I thought she was an ibera until I got closer and she was HUGE!!

I possibly thought a marginated but then it doesn't have the right plastron markings.

I wish I had taken a picture next to an everyday object so you can see just how huge it is!
oh wow! she is stunning Big Grin i'm coming with you next time :innocent:
Don't think your going without me Sue.Big GrinBig Grin What a lovely old tort, sooooooo jealous.:rotfl:
Hiya Netty,

WOW! What a coincidence. She is a beautiful tortoise, she isn't on show to the public, she is inside a padock which has a locked gate and is fully fenced in. She is gorgeous. The reason we where allowed in was because it was an organised group that had arranged for a talk from the keepers and a behind the scenes look at some things.

Still shocked that you signed upto the forum- what a coincidence!

have you lost it josh? :rolleye:
Nope... a user made a post saying it was them that re-homed this tortoise to the Mountain Zoo!

just saw it :rolleye::rolleye::rolleye:
Yes, I am here. I removed the post, as I felt I put too much personal info "out there" about my family. Anyway, I am fairly certain it is her. Although, see her handled like that was a bit distressing. Do hope they were gentle with her. She is likely in her early 40s now.

Glad she is in a paddock and thanks for sharing the picks of our "little" Sally.
hello nettynoo and :welcome:
just to reassure you, they were only briefly handled by a team of experienced keepers Big Grin
she is a stunning little girl by the way
She was handled only by a team of experienced keepers and was only held with her plastron showing the camera for a short amount of time. The man working at the zoo had trouble identifying her so we where trying to help. Her unusually large size is what throws us off- she must be an ibera though! VERY VERY large!! Gorgeous Big Grin

Don't worry about removing your post- can totally understand why, was just rather confused and I looked like I'd gone loopy haha
