Yes Zeus was found in a pet shop and several others were located. I am not sure if all were returned though as some woudl certainly have been sold to unsuspecting owners. It's whether or not they saw the news item, copled with their honesty as to whether or not they were returned. This is the lowlife who did the deed. It's unthinkable that he was spared a jail sentence.

The amount he was ordered to pay as compensation is an insult!

You can say that again - wonder if it would have been different if they were pedigree dogs:innocentwhistle:
Exactly Sue! I dread to think how poor joy must feel about it all

Having my torts stolen is my biggest fear!
Its a scandal. Am already worried about summer, theres a block of four flats behind my house and teenagers use the back door all day to cut through into the next street, I know for sure if I'm out for any length of time that I'll have to bring my torts in, would be too worried...

Me too, and do be careful folks if you ever let one stay temporarily with anyone for whatever reason, as the police can't be bothered to chase them up when they refuse to give it back. Apparently tortoises disappearing, in the eyes of the law is not worth chasing up and becomes a civil matter which is often too expensive to pursue

I'd also remember that if you give your tortoise to a friend for a temporary period of time (with the intention of getting him back) be sure to get them to sign something to say that they are going to be returned to you- even if they are a 'friend'.

That's very true Josh but unfortunately is something you don't think of when entrusting a loved animal to someone who you do trust at the time.
