There has been a theft of 7 tortoises from the Tortoise Garden in Cornwall. Would you kindly take a moment to read the below message from Joy of The Tortoise Garden in Cornwall:-

Kindly pass round to all tortoise owners

I am very distressed, one of my "visitors" managed to somehow get into my baby pen and stole them all!!

I lost six beautiful baby hermanns and one 8 week old leopard and I am desperate for them to come home. Maybe you can alert tortoise owners and tell them to be vigilant if they hear of any tortoises for sale or newly acquired??? The leopard is very distinctive because his little tail points upwards instead of down so he is easily identifiable. I have photo's of them. The man had to open a padlock,
open a gate and then shut it behind him to get into the pen and reverse the procedure to come out and despite other visitors strolling around, no one saw him go into the pen."

It's sickening, if anyone hears of any tortoises being offered for sale under
unusual circumstances please contact the Tortoise Garden.

Let's hope when they are found that the B******s name and address are made public - I know what he deserves but would get locked up for it. Scum of the earth, people who offend against animals and children.

I wish someone could name and shame them- and they should be banned from keeping animals for life IMO.
thats awful, it needs to be spread around as much as possible, I've put this on some other forums too, hope you don't mind
just read that some more have been stolen..

"The Tortoise Garden in Cornwall has once again been targeted by spineless,
greedy thieves. The tortoise sanctuary has been running for 11 years, and had 7
tortoises stolen in June. You may have heard that another 5 were taken on
Sunday; 2 seven year old Indian Stars, 2 two year old Hermanns and a mature
spur-thighed tortoise. Last night further tortoises were stolen:-

"There is worse news, they came back in the night and stole my big giant and
several pens of toddlers, leopards, and god knows who else."

If you have any information which may lead to the recovery of the stolen
tortoises, please contact John Hayward, coordinator national theft register, who
will also deal with the issuing of any reward due for the recovery of the stolen
animals and the conviction of the despicable people involved in the theft.

this is absolutely sick. I have posted a note about this on one of the topics on here already tonight. They have even stolen her 7stone Sulcata Zeus. We visited the garden just over 3 weeks ago and to have seen them close up and now know they have been stolen is heartbreaking. They are a lovely couple and how ever anyone could do this is just disgusting. They want hanging when or if they are found. I will keep my ears and eyes open for any news. The tortoise trust forum is aware of this also, so fingers crossed we get some good results if everyone knows. Just a thought but wouldnt it be a good idea to get it on the news all over the UK so people know??? that way it might help find them??

claire xx
surely someone will see that though , it cant be easy stealing a 7 stone tortie. hope they are found
did they have any cctv running ??
HI,
