Hi everyone just wanted your opinion on something i weight my 3 every month and measure every other month. This month i got it spot on with 2 of them gaining 3g and the other 1 staying the same. some months they have put on less and others too much (i''m still learning!!) I looked at when i first started measuring and the latest weight and divided the difference by the amount of months and it averages out at 2 of them putting on 4g and the other 2g a month is this ok?
Thanks in adavance
if they're healthy don't worry
i will put jackson's ratio up so you can get an idea of what they should be in terms of weight-length ratio
i hope it helps

thanks Sue just want them to be healthy and not bumpy

i think i must be doing it wrong as mine gained 50g haha , when i joined this forum im sure i put mine weighed 650g and now it weighs 705 so i must be doing it wrong.
It's worth remembering that a poo and a wee can make a HUGE difference to a tortoises weight, as can a bath or a drink. I always weigh mine after a bath so that I know they have pooed and weed.
just checked mine against Jacksons ratio and they are all fine

We have had Norris for nearly one month. He came to us weighing 48 grams (before bath) and now weighs 54g (after bath), which I think is reasonable. However I checked him against the Jackson weight for length ration and he comes up as tiny - his carpace is 63.5mm (weight 54g).
Should we do any of the following?:
Give him more food?
Give him more Nutrobol?
Take him to a Vet?
We really want to do the best by him - any advice?
Norris is doing well against the jackson's ratio

carry on doing what you're doing, all seems fine

Thanks for that - it is a weight (no pun intended) off my mind.
Just so I know for the future, how is it that he's fine on the Jackson ratio, on my downloaded chart he is miles under the 'low' line.
Julie I am sure Josh put the juveniles ratio on the forum will have a look for you tomorrow. But as Sue has already said he's doing Grand.
