she had been left to somebody with absolutely no knowledge of torts 4 years ago by an old couple who had had her for donkeys
before the old man passed away, he was strimming the garden and didn't realise she was there, that's the damage you can see near her head
anyway the new owner advertised her for sale and as she lived so close to my sister, i decided to go look at her

for the last 4 years she has been living in the kids bedroom, had free roam of the house along with dogs!
diet was melon, lettuce and tomato with the occasional apple and cucumber!
i could NOT leave her there
i managed to get her for £80 in the end but there are going to be huge vet bills as there looks to be some scepticemia (the pink areas) and shell rot
and probably lots morei suspect she hasn't had any supplements but walks okish, not tall off the ground but not dragging legs either :rolleye:
we picked her up last thursday (hence the name, Beth's doing, by the way)
i didn't even recognise her as being a hermann's because of her colour, she is also very pale skinned
i'm taking her to see the vet next week and at 74 years old i'm hoping she will be able to stand the tests i'm sure lance will want to do on her
it's gonna be a long process there are probably things going on inside that we cannot see until x-rays and blood tests are done
this lady will be living on her own as i'm not sure after all this time, she'd know what a tortoise is :innocentwhistle:
anyway, sorry for the long post but please keep your fingers crossed for this gracious old lady with a funny name

Fingers crossed all goes well next week.
