well Thursday went to vet today and shock of all shocks, a clean bill of health
no septicemia, no blood tests
the pink areas turned out to be air :rolleye: where the shell has lifted above the keratin layer where the damage is, air has got in there
i will just pick away at it as it loosens
you can actually see the sucture of her bone in some areas underneath the flaking
i will continue to bathe the damaged areas in iodine
Lance also seems to think she is a lot older than 74 he wanted to put another 20 years on her!!
he referred to her as vintage
she was wormed while we were there so just some tlc needed for the latter part of her life, seems as she has fought a lot of battles during her life and thoroughly deserves to be pampered now as a geriatric

i am so happy for you sue.thats great news.and im sure she will be pampered.shes a lovely tort and deserves some tlc now and with you i am sure she will get it.

forgot to mention that she pooped on the table at the vets. 1st one of hers for me to see i was dying to inspect it :innocentwhistle:
it wasn't too bad either, i was expecting liquid but it was semi-solid

i had to come back.im so pleased thats shes ok.i think looking at her shell other than the damage and pink,it looks like in the past she was looked after really well.her shell looks really smooth on the pics.thats proberly why she as come though the last 4 years ok.its a shame the last 4 years of her life had to happen.im sure she will be fine now as she is in good hands.

She is gorgeous, even with her battle scars. I am very pleased to hear she has a clean bill of health- shell rot is easy to treat so long as you don't miss 1 application of iodine/betadine or w.e
