Hey.
I was just wondering how often can i let my tortoise out of his enclosure to walk about inside or out?
Do they or can they eat normal garden grass. If it has not had any pesticides on it.
What is the best plants or weeds that i can grow outside to feed to my tortoise and the best for inside?

Hi i wouldn't let him wander about the house as he could eat something harmful, get lost or stepped on. I would have a look at the outside enclosures and make something suitable for him, remembering they dig down quite deep if a horsfield. When we designed ours we dug it out and lined it to prevent escape. As for food tortoises must be fed weeds, weeds and more weeds have a look in the weed section and Sue (wilsonathome) has an e-bay site which sells seeds so you can grow your own weeds. There is a very good weed data base on this site with pictures

I will get some weeds for his new enclosure i'm going to build for him. Hope it keeps him happier.
All tortoise definately need as much space to wander about and dig in as you can provide. Sounds like he will be happy with you, he's very lucky to have found a nice owner.
