First of all let me make clear that i am not in the habit of feeding fruit to my tortoises! A week after "wake up" I was a bit concerned about Amethyst as she wasn't very lively so i gave her a tiny piece (probably about an eighth) of a small strawberry to see if i could tempt her. Well it was amazing!! they both charged up to it and fought each other for this tiny piece pulling it out of each others mouths until it had all gone! Since then as i have pink nail varnish on at the moment every time my hand goes near them they start running over to me! I had no idea strawberry was such a drug!!!
Oh yes - it worked, they are both eating loads now

LOL! Karin x
LOL! It's like some cats with cat nip, they love it! Great for worming <G>
yep i give the very odd strawberry to my THB during the summer, she will only touch them if i hold it for her.
when she walk through the strawberry patch and there are strawberrys there she will not touch them ... weird..
Funny that. Some of mine don't graze on the pansies but go wild and fight over them if I put them on thief feeding slate

Hi Josh
When you say feeding slate is that a item I can buy ? if so where from ?
Thanks Bob
I just use a piece of slate to feed my tortoises on, it provides a good place and it wears down their beaks

Hello Josh ,
I thought it was a special type of slate ,thanks for info.
Bob
Nope! I nab them off my dad's shed roof!
I have loads of wild strawberry plants in my garden... I think the birds have seeded them... but mine won't touch the leaves or the flowers
Good tip that they like the fruit so much as a last resort to get them eating though.
lol, It's very good for worming
