is there anything else i could get from the supermarket?
Chicory makes a good filler.
Wondered if the leaves on celery are ok for torts to eat, any one know?

All this info is great, ive just movedf into a new house where the previous lady landscaped the garden = no grass (gravel) and not one weed. i will have to dirty it up and grow weeds for my two torts in the summer but im relying on Tesco at the moment.
My tortoise absolutely loves brocolli but no one has mentioned it, is it bad? its his fave so if he cans till have it but only as a treat it would be nice to know.

Not a good food of choice but won't hurt as part of a varied diet.

Broccoli is not good as it is a member of the cabbage family - all brassicas inhibit the uptake of calcium by the body and should be avoided. The best treat for a tortoise is more of the good stuff as forbidden foods can just cause problems with addiction - if it's not offered then they won't miss it

Your tort may like broccoli stalks as a way of trying to file it's beak, if so, then offer cuttlefish instead or some hard logs for him to gnaw on.

Thanks Sue, only at the moment Olive seems to be eating everything in sight, and as we were having some celery in the stew i thought i could save the leaves for her.

Might just try her with one or two if i dont have much of a choice of other leaves for her.

You could also try curly kyle occasionally it will help with winter feeding.

Thanks i will try her with some of that as well, a bit short of weeds now we are under snow cover :rolleye:
I'm struggling to find food for the two i have awake. Going to have to pay a visit to my dads. His garden is full of weeds. The tortoise he has up there for me is having a right feast.
