Is suzie a Suzie or a sid lol. Age 6. She is 5 inches long. Her shell is overgrown a bit over her tail so it's not has free as it should be.
This guy is a bit small to sex accurately I think.
If I had to guess, I'd say Sid.

She looks smaller because my hubby is holding her. His hands are really big. I have 1 that is younger than her. He is 5 and he is 100% male. He loves to flash lol. I also have a smaller female. With this one i'm not sure. I am really hoping for her to be female. Forgot to say she is a horsfield(russian)tortoise.

Thanks for the link. I have got pictures of male and female. The tail is pushed down more because of her shell.

It's a difficult one Paulette. The shape of the supracaudal would suggest male but then again the shape could be just to do with the bad way the shell has grown. I'm going with Sid though for the time being. Does the other tortoise seem interested in him/her at all? At five inches a horsfield male can be considered to be adult but a female would grow a bit more yet.
Sorry not to be of much help. To keep your spirits up I have a female with a tail this big which lays eggs so there's hope yet. Maybe after hibernation he will emerge a she Smile
This 1 as got me stumped too. She/he is not with my male yet Sue because of the quarentine. Planning to put them altogether next year. Only wanted 1 group of horsfields. If she turns out to be male this will course a problem. I will get around it i suppose. She is in with my other female. They are from the same person. She has shown no interest in her. They sleep with their heads on each other. I am worried more that if she is female and starts to lay eggs they could get stuck because of her shell. Thanks Sue. Fingers crossed.
