my daughters tortoise has a large patch of skin that has come off and it is now bleeding, should we take him to the vets? What has caused this?
Hi, Yes! if he was my tortoise I would take to the vet if this patch is bleeding you don't want and infection getting in. Good luck, lets us know how you get on.
I would take it to the vets too. Tortoises skin does peel sometimes but it shouldn't bleed. A good vet should be able to tell you what the problem is.

As the others have said, the vets is in order at this stage. It sounds as though it is an injury of some sort. If it is just where 'someone' has tried to pull a piece of already shedding skin then it can be treated with diluted videne or iodine daily until healed. Never assist with shedding manually Sad
they shed?

i notice mine looked dry round the neck occasionally but never seen any shed off?
Olive's skin looks quite dry and when i put my reading glasses on i can see tiny little scales that are comming off Big Grin
Yes Maz they do shed skin. Some more than others. It's normal.
