ok so we now know how bad a diet Cleo had and the effect it has had on her :flamingmad:
i've been trying to feed her nearly all day but she doesn't want to know, i've tried mixing weeds with lettuce and cucumber, she sniffs it then cocks her nose up Sad i've put some on a slate, straight onto the table floor and i've even put food in a cereal bowl :innocent:
could it be that she's simply been used to having 24/7 access to eating biscuits from a dogs bowl and she's just stroppin?
i'm not worried at this stage as i realise she has some big adjustments to make and she needs to settle down but i really would like to see her eating properly ( and i thought i had patience)
never see a tortoise cock it's nose up at a dandelion leaf before :rolleye:
Dandelion? my tort would eat me to get to one of those. mine would only eat form my hand and thats the only way hed eat for months.

You have to learn to walk away lol. It's the only way to be honest. So long as you are doing test weighing for hydration and all is fine, then she will change ber mind eventually. Definately a sign of a stroppy tort that Wink
It might be the move as well Sue. She will settle. I think the older the tort the harder it is for them to adjust. Think after 5 years weeds must look so strange. It's so frustrating. You could try soaking a couple of dog biscuits in some water(not ideal i no)and rubbing the weeds with them. She just might eat a bit if she can smell the dog biscuits. I think she doesn't no what to do with the weeds. Fingers crossed she will start to eat soon.

erm... what is "test weighing for hydration" ? never heard of that :innocentwhistle:
obviously i will be keeping records of her weight and monitoring for hydration/de-hydration
Weigh her before and after bathing to see if she is taking anything on board (like a breast fed baby). If so then don't worry about the food as she WILL eat eventually Wink

So long as she is hydrated, personally I wouldn't worry too much about food. Just be patient and don't look her in the eye! LOL (Says he who would probably be straight on the phone to wizzasmum hahaha)
Sue, Dewi didn't eat for a month or more!!! He was bathed every day. We did think we were going to lose him at one stage, no stopping him now!!!!
I remember Kay. You helped me no end with Terry. So did you Sue. It's hard to believe they can last so long without food. He lived for 4 years eating cabbage and grapes. Parts of his shell were soft. Now his shell is hard and hes fine(spoiled). She will come round you just have to stand back a bit. I bet you are checking her all the time lol.
i am Smile i remember advising you with your Terry, glad he's doin so well Smile
i need to practice what i preach :rolleye: i guess i'm just impatient :innocent: i was expecting her to be like Thursday i suppose as she was so easy and quick to adapt
