How old would my tort need to be to tell if its male or female?

It's a size rather than an age thing Shaun. Usually around 5 years but males often flash before that so if you catch him then it's obvious. Put a couple of pics up if you have them, one from behind showing a clear shot of the tail and one of the plastron. It mgiht be possible to give a guess depending on how old the tort is.

Ok thanks Sue. Im just getting hassled by the gf as she wants to know what sex it is for names lol. The tort we have is about 6 months old so sounds like she will have to wait a while

Oh no way yet then Shaun. Give it a boy/girl type one or one you can easily change to something similar. One lady had one called Boris that turned into Doris lol

lol i had an oscar until he got to about 4 yrs old, now SHE is called oscar-ette but i still call her oscar :dancingbanana: i can't wait til she wakes cos i want to show the comparison between her and Cleo, they're both the same age

I bet there is a big difference.
