indoor temps
my megaray is 18" above my tortoises and gets up to 37c sometimes it varies from 30 to 37 is this ok? though they seem to love it!

i would say this is fine, they arent stupid they will find a temp they like Smile and if they love it why change it Big Grin

take the probe off the slate and test it on the surface of the soil, i haven't got a thermometer in my table permanently, i just check temps regularly

Ive taken the probe off the slate but its still been between 32 and 37 though they do move to the cooler spots Smile

Does this mean that the slate is under the lamp as this is not a good idea really, especially for small torts. Sorry if I misunderstood.Rolleyes

Phew that's a relief - thought we were having turtle soup tomorrow lol. Slates are brill, just not under the lamp. The basking temp would be far too high and the tort would not have any other option Wink
